skull appreciation day blog hop!!!!!!

let me start off by saying DAMN YOU WINDOWS!!!!!! some kind of update happened and now i can't crop my pictures!!!! ok, thanks for that and welcome to this super awesome skull appreciation blog hop!!!!! we have so many wonderful people hopping with us!  i'm very sorry for the crap you see in the background of all my pictures. about my project, i bought this skull on sale after halloween and it has been sitting and watching and waiting. i first painted red, then blue, i outlined the eyes, nose, and mouth in black, then painted the teeth silver.  the flower on the side is made with glubers, (which they make look so easy on the video, it's not. ok, so it's not that bad but still) i used about a 1/2in width knit fabric for it.

i cut the hole in top with an xteo knife. and done! i was going to leave it without a purpose, but he looked so sad just to sit on the shelve with nothing to do, so that is how he got the hole in his head.
now this one is made with a free digi from smeared ink for playing along in the hop!!!! how nice was that! sorry about the odd angle. i lightly colored the head with silver and the wings with pink stickles. oh and it's an egg! i covered it with blue tissue paper, then on the bottom i wrapped yarn and twine. i punched out a couple of butterflies out of orange tissue paper. it's the first egg i have decorated, i do plan on trying again. if i could crop the pictures it would look better. looks like i might have to pop for photoshop :(

I love both your projects and that flower on the side of the first one is just fab! As for picture cropping, you definitely don't need to pay for Photoshop just for that! There are a few image editing programs that are free to download (try GIMP), and even if you don't like those, there are free online cropping resources available, just search for "cropping photos free" :)

Love the colors you used on the skull pencil holder! The flower turned out awesome...sorry it wasn't as easy as the gluber videos advertise! Great coloring on the skull freebie on your decorated egg. BTW...you can get a free flickr account in which you can do basic editing, cropping, etc.

Thanks for hosting all of us hoppers, poking around your blog. :) The skully pencil holder is a clever idea. Who knew skulls could be so useful outside of the obvious usage?

Really cool projects Lisa! Love how you changed it up & made the skull into a pencil holder and I think you did a fabulous job on the egg! I'm assuming that it's a paper mache one? anyway I love them both!
