recycle and be cute!

hello and welcome! what we have here is... a recycled belt turned into a cuff! santa brought hubby 2 new belts, when i went to steal the old one, he was still wearing it, because it was already molded to him.  i cut it at about 8 in. and out of the one belt, i can get about 3 or 4 cuffs out of it. for the pendant i used hello dollie from retro cafe art, and if you head over to their facebook page they are having a contest/giveaway until feb 14th. the words are from lotteria cards and the glitter is ms.

this is the funky flower that the pentdant sits on. it started out as a roselet, but i wanted to make it more curvy, so i sewed it and rouched (don't know how to spell that word). i glued the pendant in the middle and then glued/sewed the entire thing on top of the belt.
i used a button hole and placed another hole to sew the button on. used a piece of fiber for the tie! enjoy! lisa

let's sew wednesday!

hello and welcome! today i'm bringing you a yo-yo pincushion. i was tried of losing my hand sewing needles in my larger pin cushion and i wanted to keep them sharp. one day, a long time ago, i bought some emery (the link tells you a little about it). those who have been reading know i love to make yo-yo's and one day i found my emery and was bored, so, yo-yo pincushions were born! i filled them with a small funnel (if you don't have one, roll a piece of paper into a funnel and use that!). I sewed a button on top to keep it closed and for some added cuteness. the pink one i made for a friend and the black one is mine! these may be poping up in my etsy shop one day. enjoy! lisa

smeared and smudged blog hop!!!!!!

hello and welcome to the super awesome smeared and smudged blog hop! (can you tell i got a new camera!!!! it's my new very best friend!!!!) the theme for the hop is mesh it. well, i've been trying very hard to get myself cleaned and organized and i know i had mesh somewhere, sadly i can't find it and i'm wondering if it ended up in the trash :(. but, you can mesh together stamps, images,, etc. so, i meshed together a stamp 'flying skull' from smeared ink and a 'hello dollie' image from retro cafe art.  i also meshed together tim holtz inks (like where i'm going with this) for the background. i used red, blue, and aged paper (the only one i can ever remember the name for). sometimes when i like my fortoune from my cookie, i keep it for later use.

the eye stamp came from sideshow stamps, which i added some ms glitter to and also to dollie's necklace! now get to hopping! enjoy! lisa

it's lets sew wednesday!!!!!!

hello and welcome! today i'm bringing you an awesome pillow!!!!! i'm not catholic, but i love virgin mary images (maybe that is why i married a catholic). the fabric is from robert kaufman, it's a panel of 4 different images, printed twice. this was super easy to make into a pillow.  i cut the image from the panel and measured it. then i decided what size i wanted the pillow to be (based on the pillow forms that walmart had) i then cut the boarder accordingly. the boarder fabric came from walmart, i think it goes wonderfully with the image! this was super easy to make! i made a couple of them for my mother-in-law for Christmas and she loved them! come back tomorrow for a smeared and smudged blog hop! enjoy! lisa

let's sew wednesday!!!!!

hello and welcome back! with the start of a new year, comes the start of a new let's sew Wednesday! today i bring you two onies i made for my great niece (i think it is so awesome that i'm a great aunt)
the first was super easy to do! i embroidered the hummingbird image on to a green piece of fabric.

the image came from urban threads. the reason i did it on a separate piece of fabric is so the back of the image won't irrate her skin. it is sewn on using a decorative stitch! super easy and super cute!
i love to make yo-yo's when we go on long trips, so, i have a ton of them. while surfing the web i saw some super cute yo-yo oneis, so i stole the idea!

both of these took about an hour to make! not to bad, it almost makes me want to have a girl! but my other niece is pregnant, so hopefully another girl is on the way! (we find out next week!!!!!) enjoy! lisa
